The Cité du cuir has a rich collection of archives from companies and trade unions, which is essential for future research and exhibitions. This center is not limited to consultation. It also plays a key role in the conservation and promotion of leather heritage and crafts.
An archive collection
The center houses 70 linear meters of corporate and union archives. More than just a place for consultation, it ensures the preservation of documents and conducts research to enrich temporary exhibitions.
A tool for research and promotion
Thanks to its conservation and inventory work, this collection aims to join prestigious programs and labels such as Gallica Carte Blanche. It paves the way for research programs, conferences, and publications.
A library of books and digital resources
The center has a specialized library covering design, crafts, and industrial history. Digital databases provide direct access to objects, films, archives, and more.
A conservation mission
This space complies with a legal obligation to conserve and process archives, in the same way as collectibles. This work ensures the transmission and protection of the memory of leathe-rworking skills and the leather industry.
